Location: Miami, Florida
Known Affiliations : Donald
N. Embinder (original publisher)

From Miami Florida, Blueboy had it's start as a bi-monthly in 1974/75.
But it wasn't until after issue #3 when Donald N. Embinder took
the helm as Publisher that Blueboy began to become the premiere "Gay
Lifestyle" magazine of the Late 70's and early 80's. Combining
Erotic Photography with Fashion, Art, Car Reviews, and high end Vacations,
it was Stylish rather than Raunchy. This may be due to, in
order to get a magazine out of the Adult Bookstores and into a 7-11
(in the 70's), a magazine had to have "content" (not like
today). And the content of Blueboy did not feel like it came out of
the Gay Ghetto of New York.
Blueboy was one of the first places to see Roger, Dave Connors, Steve York and
a host of exclusive models. It seems to be the first of the Men's Magazine to
commission and direct the photo content specifically for it's use only. Resulting
in a type of man, not seen anywhere else in print. A practice now done by Advocate
Men and a few others.
During this time it also started Numbers Magazine (ceased publication
in 2004), Visions of Men: For Women Only (short lived) and a
host of Special Publications, Calendars and Photo Sets. The fate of Blueboy and
Numbers changed radically in the mid 80's when Embinder sold is interest in the
publications to the printer. Moving operations to New York. After this time printing
quality (odd, since the printer now owned the magazine) and content
seemed marginal at best. And both became hot potato publications changing hands
and direction to the current incarnation, which now seems primarily published
in order to promote product of the Video Production Companies.
