Dates of Operation: 1972 to 1996
Location: San Francisco,
CA (72-75), Venice Beach, CA (after 1975)
Known Aliases : Studio had
none
Known Affiliations : John Coletti (founder) ,
Bill Harrison, Sierra Pacific, Tyger Films

Originally founded by John Coletti in San Francisco
as an outlet for his photography. The initial releases were of photosets,
generally of the men he and partner Bill Harrison (Ken
Harrison) had made acquaintances with. Harrison would handle most of
the business aspects of the studio, Coletti the photographic.
In 1975, Coletti and Harrison part ways, and Coletti relocates
to Los Angeles (Venice Beach) to continue the studio. At this time,
he releases Fox's first printed work, the 1976 FOX
CALENDAR as
well as continuing with photosets. In Los Angeles, Coletti experiments
with 8mm loops filming solo and duo's of his models. Harrison soon
rejoins Coletti to take over the business of Fox Studio and to later
start: Sierra Pacific (distribution of Fox and others),
Tyger Films, Giant Films, and possibly
others.
In the late 1970's, it all came together with the release of THE
FOX: TOM LeDUC and several loop films. Where competitor Colt
Studio was
Olympian in feel, Fox represented the Venice Beach attitude
of Sun, Sex and Muscle; and it proved to be a good combination. With
the advent of video, Fox made the transition successfully, unlike many
other studios of the time. Coletti and Harrison maintained a constant
release of product, both print and video.
All continued well until 1989, when Harrison begins to show signs of
sickness. Coletti and Fox's output is slowed while taking
care of Harrison, who passes away in 1991. But little was released
after this. By 1995, Fox Studio released no new material by
Coletti, most of the video releases were that of other directors made
for the studio.
