The original publisher of Blueboy Magazine, Donald N. Embinder
("call me Don") is most likely the first to take a Gay Lifestyle
Magazine with Nude Photography to a National Distribution Level. At
convenience stores across the nation, next to Playboy and Playgirl,
there was Blueboy. Based in Miami, Embinder, with Alex Sanchez (Art
Director and Photographer: aka: Sodoma, Marikko, Milo) built a mini
publishing empire. Releasing the monthly publications along with Special
Publications, Novels and a variety of Merchandise. In the early 1980's
selling his stake in Blueboy, Don moved to Southern California.
In Los Angeles, Embinder met up with Casey Klinger, and began publishing
Torso Magazine and later Jock Magazine ("Torso's Dirty Little
Brother"). Stars Magazine was later purchased and added to their
list of Monthly Publications. In L.A., Embinder also began releasing
video through Hot Video and his distribution company, L.A. Video.
Late 1989, with his mother's failing health, he moved operations back
to Florida. Later relocating to New York in pursuit of other ventures
and a perfect Golf Course.
